Brief Itinerary

   DAY 1

Check in at OR Tambo International Airport at the Egypt Air Counter, 2 hours prior to departure, for your flight to Cairo at 9 ( usually about 9.30 PM in the evening)

 DAY 2

Flight arrives at Cairo International Airport early morning. Transfer to domestic departure hall, for your one hour flight to the beautiful seaside town of Sharm El Sheikh Arrive at Sharm El Sheikh Airport at approximately 09h30, where you will met by our representative

You will be transferred to the Dive center in Sharm, where you can leave your luggage and the spend the day shopping and exploring the exciting markets, restaurants and beaches of Sharm.

Alternatively you can use the hotel facilities, and spend the day relaxing around the pool
Late the afternoon you be taken to your live aboard boat, at the nearby harbour
You will be welcomed on board the King Snefro, after which cabin arrangements will be made and you will be given a boat - briefing

Overnight on board the King Snefro on a full basis

DAY 3

The boat departs early morning and you commence your Red Sea dive experience with a check out dive at a nearby reef. The Red sea is far more salty than what you have been used to diving and you will need to get your buoyancy and weights adjusted, so you can enjoy the best the Red Sea has to offer. The rest of the day is spent diving the best of Sharm’s local dive sites. Later that evening the boat will moor in a protected bay, where you will have an opportunity of doing a night dive.

Overnight on board on a full board basis.

DAY 4

Early in the morning the boat will sail to the wreck of the Thistlegorm, the most famous of the Red Sea wrecks, and probably the most famous wreck dive in the world. There is so much to explore we do two dives - the first one is a complete “overview” dive of the wreck, and surrounding seabed, and the second a penetrating dive, into the safer areas of the wreck. For the third dive your boat will sail to Small Passage where two channels cut the reef system of Sha’ab Mahmoud connecting a sheltered lagoon to the open sea. A night dive inside the lagoon is optional.

Overnight on board the King Snefro on a full board basis.

DAY 5

First dive of the day will take you to the historical wreck of the Dunraven which sank in April 1876. An old wooden wreck with plenty of room for passing trough thousands of glassfish that live here in the shade of the wreck. Next to dive Shark and Yolanda Reef, the southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula with an endless wall unique in the Red Sea. These dives have been rated as the best wall dive in the world.

After that, we head back north to the Gulf of Aqaba and Tiran to do your third dive at Gordon Reef, which gently slopes down to form a large plateau.

If weather permits you will stay over night at Gordon Reef. Usual winds are strong so the boat will stay in the more sheltered South Lagoon where a night dive is optional.

Overnight on board the King Snefro on a full board basis.

DAY 6

You fist dive will be very early to visit the site famous for the shoaling Hammerhead Sharks, which only occurs in the summer months.

Other dives you will do in these Islands will be Jackson Reef, the most northern one in the Strait of Tiran, Thomas Reef or Woodhouse Reef, which both are perfect for a drift dive along their sheltered eastern sides.

After lunch you will leave the reefs of Tiran towards Sharm for your third dive at Ras Nasrani, Ras Ghamila or may be Ras Um Sid, it will be your choice. Return to Travco Harbour in the afternoon and disembark.

Our representative will collect you and transfer you to the quaint seaside town of Dahab.

You are booked into the Mirage Village, a traditional, original Bedouin style dive resort, which has been twice featured in Getaway magazine. for 3 nights on a bed & breakfast basis.

Overnight at the Mirage on a bed & breakfast basis.

DAY 7 – DAY 8

Spend the next 2 days exploring Dahab or the diving the surrounding dive sites.

Dahab was a Bedouin fishing village until recently, and was what Sharm used to be like 40 years ago – it’s a real Egyptian desert experience.

Dahab lies alongside the deepest section of the African rift, the giant crack in the earth’s crust that formed the Red Sea. The jagged mountains above continue at much the same angle underwater, forming a dramatic seascape of valleys, canyons and caves. Most of Dahab’s dive-spots are geologically unique.

Two dive-sites, ‘the Canyon’ and ‘the Blue Hole’, are worldwide known amongst divers. Sport divers are allowed to explore the two sites to a maximum depth of 30m.

Diving in Dahab is shore-diving. With a few exceptions you simply drive along the shore by jeep or pick-up truck, gear up at the beach and start your dive.

Overnight at the Mirage on a bed & breakfast basis.

DAY 9

After early breakfast, our representative will transfer you to Sharm airport for your morning flight to Cairo.

On arrival in Cairo our English speaking tour guide will collect you and take you on an exiting tour of the world famous sights of ancient Egypt. This includes the Sphinx, Pyramids, and Egyptian Museum.

Because the flight home is only at 01.45 the following morning, you be checked in to a four or five star hotel for the afternoon to rest, or relax around the pool.

Early that evening, you will again be collected, with your luggage, and taken to the El Khalili Bazaar. This is the biggest bazaar in Africa, - Its narrow, winding passages conceal a treasure trove of souvenirs, leather goods, carpets and other fabulous bargains – the ideal place to buy those last minute gifts, or souvenirs

For those to relaxed to shop, the bazaar also has some amazing restaurants, where you can experience authentic Eastern cuisine, and music.

At 10.00pm you will be collected, and transferred to the airport, to catch you flight back home.

Day 10

Depart Cairo at 01h30.

Your scheduled arrival time back in Johannesburg, after what must certainly be the ultimate Red Sea / Egypt adventure safari is 09h30.
